Slippery When Wet - The Acorn

I’ve had special times with The Acorn, and this album is delicate and what I wanted: I can settle into that sound. With things I love, I just want to be crammed full of them; I’m edacious, and I want more. That’s why I listen to songs on repeat. But I’m never satisfied. I’ll tire of the song before it satisfies me. It’s because I want all those plucks and purrs to be a part of me, and they never will be. They only become familiar and known. If I listen to something while I fall asleep, when I wake up in the morning, and it’s still playing, I can hear all the faults and falters in it. That happened in “Clair de Lune”— it was as if the song had fallen apart. It didn’t even sound the same. I have to be careful when I sleep, lest I destroy something special to me. The only sounds that have stood up to my sleep are Joy Division and The Acorn. I slept all night listening to “Love Will Tear Us Apart” and woke up feeling sad, and my hair looked a few shades darker, but the sound was the same.

This new album excites me. I just want to see it all, and know it all, and love it all despite the knowing. Just as when you love a person.

I wish they would come to Australia.
